Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India posted a massive 411/7, the highest total ever recorded in an Under-19 World Cup final. The total proved far beyond England’s reach, as they were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs despite a valiant counterattack from Caleb Falconer.

Early Setback, Then Total Domination
India’s innings began shakily. Opener and previous-match hero Aaron George was dismissed for just 9 runs, leaving India struggling at 20 for 1 in the fourth over. What followed, however, was a breathtaking turnaround.
Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre launched a ferocious assault on the English bowling attack. Suryavanshi brought up his century in just 55 balls, mixing clean striking with fearless intent. The partnership completely shifted momentum and dismantled England’s plans.
Suryavanshi went on to play a historic knock of 175 runs off 80 balls, smashing 15 fours and 15 sixes, while Mhatre provided stability and leadership at the other end. India’s aggressive approach continued through the middle and death overs, pushing the total beyond 400 — a psychological blow for England even before the chase began.
England’s Chase Falters Despite Faulkner’s Heroics
England’s reply never found stability. Opener Joseph Moores fell early, dismissed for 17, and regular wickets kept England on the back foot. Ben Mayes (66) and BJ Dawkins (45) briefly revived hopes, but both were dismissed as India tightened the noose.
At 177 for 7, England appeared all but beaten. However, Caleb Falconer produced a sensational innings, scoring 115 off just 67 balls, including 9 fours and 7 sixes, showing remarkable composure under pressure. James Minto added 28 in support, but the target remained out of reach.
England were eventually bowled out for 311, handing India a comprehensive 100-run victory.

Bowlers Seal the Title
India’s bowling attack complemented the batting fireworks.
- Ambris led the attack with 3 wickets for 56 runs in nine overs
- Kanishk Chauhan and Deepesh Devvardhan picked up two wickets each, ensuring England never fully recovered
Suryavanshi Rewrites Record Books
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s final innings was historic on multiple fronts. According to ESPNcricinfo, his 175 is:
- The highest individual score in any Under-19 World Cup final or knockout match
- The first-ever 150+ score in a men’s Under-19 World Cup final
He surpassed several long-standing records, including:
- Sameer Minhas’ 172 in the 2025 Asia Cup final
- Alyssa Healy’s 170 in the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup final
Suryavanshi has now amassed 1,412 runs in Under-19 World Cups, becoming:
- India’s highest-ever run-scorer at the youth World Cup level
- The fourth-highest overall in tournament history
In this edition alone, he scored 439 runs, making him the second-highest run-getter of the tournament and registering the fifth-highest tally in a single Under-19 World Cup, second only among Indians to Shikhar Dhawan’s 505 runs in 2004.
A Statement of Future Dominance
India’s emphatic triumph not only secured another Under-19 world title but also underlined the strength of the country’s cricketing pipeline. With players like Suryavanshi and Mhatre delivering on the biggest stage, the final served as a powerful statement about the future of Indian cricket.
